Frequently Asked Questions

1) Are there any member age or residency restrictions?

Absolutely not. Most members are from Sandwich or residing towns on Cape. We are women of all ages. We are stay at home moms with young families, working women and empty nesters.

2) When are the meetings and do I need to attend them?

Generally they are always held the third Monday night of each month, excluding the summer months. The location is Lakewood Hills Clubhouse, on Kiah's Way in Sandwich. They begin at 7pm for a social half hour with refreshments. The business and educational program begins at 7:30 and lasts generally an hour. The programs cover many topics related to women's health, entertainment and education. Although we recommend attending meetings, it is not a membership requirement. We do have a monthly newsletter to catch you up on anything you miss.

3) When can I join and what will I do as a member?

We accept new members throughout the year! Annual dues are $30, which defrays the cost of monthly programs, newsletters, and GFWC dues. Each member is encouraged to volunteer for at least one community service project and one fundraiser each year. Sign-ups to volunteer on community projects and fundraisers happen at the general meetings.

4) What is the formal voting I have heard about?

Our Recording Secretary does take minutes at the general and board meetings. All members take a pledge when joining, and cast a majority vote for club policy changes and decisions as to where the raised money goes. This is one reason why each member is so valued. These votes take places at general meetings, another reason why meeting attendance is highly encouraged.

5) I am not sure the SWC is for me. How can I be sure?

Please feel free to attend any general meeting throughout the year. (Refer to our general meeting schedule.) Check us out! You can also be added to our Guest Newsletter List as well.

6) How do I contact other members?

We all receive updated membership lists when necessary for your convenience.

7) How do I sign up for membership or make changes to my contact information?

At each general meeting, there is a membership table set up to answer all your questions and to get you signed up. You may also contact us at our Email: info@sandwichwomensclub.org.
